The institutions and organizations that exist in today's competitive environment and strive to establish and maintain effective communication with their stakeholders face various problems in terms of communication. Besides, economic and social transformation, developments in information and communication technologies also transform communication tools and understanding. Private or public institutions and organizations, communities or individuals also need communication professionals who are competent and capable in the field to meet the requirements of today and the future.
The aim of our department is to educate our students as public relations and advertising professionals who are competent, creative and skilled in design by combining theory and practice in curriculum. Furthermore, Department of Public Relations and Advertising gathers students who are creative, imaginative, open-minded, collaborative, curious team players and critical thinkers.
The Department of Public Relations and Advertising provides students with the necessary knowledge in both fields through compulsory and elective courses. With its dynamic structure, our department reinforces the theoretical and practical education of the students. Namely, our students gain experience in practice by finding solutions to the communication problems of various institutions, organizations and non-profit organizations by developing public relations and advertising projects in which they use their theoretical knowledge in the field of communication.
Our students also benefit from the opportunities of student exchange agreements (Erasmus) that offer to study and experience life in European countries and other countries. Additionally, our students can increase their academic competencies with double major and minor programs.
Our department's Creative Idea Atelier (YAFA) serves as a laboratory for applied courses and workshops and provides an agency environment and equipment for public relations and advertising practices. With the projects developed in YAFA, our students participate in various competitions at the national and international level and receive awards.
Our students, who gain theoretical knowledge from qualified academics, also have the opportunity to work with the professionals of the sector with seminars, workshops, and courses taken from advertising and public relations experts to increase their practical experience.
In addition to the skills of conducting effective communication, working with/within teams and inter-disciplines, developing and applying communication strategies, our students graduate with the conscious of being responsible, confident, entrepreneurial and competitive within ethical boundaries while practicing their profession.
Our graduate students can work as a copywriter, customer representative or in any other positions of advertising and public relations agencies as well as they can work in marketing, corporate communication, public relations and advertising departments of public or private organizations and corporations. Besides, they can have the opportunity to work in the departments of media relations and public relations as public relations specialist, communication consultant, social media specialist, and press advisor.
